Project Summary: Le Tac

Owner

SOQUEM Inc. 50%, MDN Inc. (50%).

Location

Approximately 135 km to the SW of the town of Chibougamau and 15 km to the S of the village of Desmaraisville in northwestern Quebec.

Area

The property comprises 97 contiguous claims for a total of 1685 ha.

Geology & mineralization

The property is underlain by Archean volcanosedimentary rocks of the Abitibi greenstone belt, and lies within the polymetallic Lebel-sur-Quévillon—Lac Shortt metallogenic belt.  This belt is oriented NE-SW, and is characterized by intrusions of syenite, carbonatite and kimberlite suggesting the presence of a major transcrustal structure.

The property has potential for polymetallic VMS and intermediate sulfidation mineralization as well as orogenic Au deposits. The most common rocks on the property comprise basaltic to rhyolitic flows, with lesser volcanoclastic and sedimentary strata.  These rocks are intruded by a variety of syn- to post-tectonic igneous bodies including kimberlitic breccia.  Most of the property is typified by the presence of numerous shear and carbonate-altered zones. Several IP anomalies remain to be tested by drilling.

Several former and currently operating mines occur near the property, including the Bachelor Lake gold mine (0.96 Mt at 5.4 g/t Au), Lac Shortt (2.7 Mt at 4.62 g/t Au) and Coniagas (0.72 Mt at 10.7% Zn, 1.1% Pb and 182 g/t Ag).
