Project Summary: Matagami (Ilse Dieu)
Owner
MDN Inc. (100%)
Location
Approximately 8 km to the NE of the town of Matagami in northwestern Quebec.
Area
The property is composed of 106 contiguous claims for a total of 1124 ha.
Geology and mineralization
The polymetallic Isle Dieu property occurs in the Archean Abitibi greenstone belt just to the NE of the Matagami Zn-Cu mining camp. For the most part, the property is underlain by volcanic rocks of the Wabassee Formation. Although the Wabassee lies above the Key Tuffite, the most favourable stratigraphic interval in the Matagami mining camp, recent exploration work by Donner Metals has demonstrated the existence of more than one favourable horizon (ex. Upper Bracemac and Bracemac polymetallic sulphide zones within the Wabassee Formation).
Exploration work on the property has been extensive. Work was initially focused on a series of gold-bearing quartz veins that cut volcanosedimentary rocks near the margins of the Dunlop Bay granitoid, where historical resources (non-compliant with NI 43-101) of 135 241 tonnes at 2.74 g/t Au were defined. Several drill holes which cut the granitoid body intersected numerous gold-bearing veinlets as well. The property is also favourable for polymetallic VMS mineralization.
