Results: Mnekezi
This occurrence was discovered in 2006 in a Prospecting Licence optioned from Tanzanian Royalty Exploration, located about 20 km east of the Tulawaka gold mine process plant. It covers an area approximately 0.4 km long by 0.3 km wide and was initially tested in 2006 by 22 RAB drill holes (NPRAB-01 to NPRAB-22) for a total of 868 m. The most significant intersection is 6 m at 30.08 g/t Au in NPRAB-02. In 2007, a total of 19 RAB holes (NPRAB-23 to NPRAV-41) totaling 1,255m and 10 RC holes (NPRC-01 to NPRC-10) totaling 92 4m around the prospect did not find its extensions.
Soil anomalies on Mnekizi property form the Eastern extremity of the 30 km strike length anomalous gold-in-soil lineament (Mnekezi to Viyonza). The lineament is coincident with the north contact of the volcanic belt and the granitic rock. The Tulawaka mine is located in a similar geological environment near the south contact of the belt.
More exploration is needed to outline drill targets along the volcanic rock-granitic rock contact that cuts through the property.
